Best known for sensational debut album 'Permission To Land', and its raft of unstoppable singles like 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' and 'Get Your Hands Off My Woman', The Darkness are always at their best around December, when they can ramp up festive anthem 'Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)'. So we're very pleased to announce that the flamboyant rockers will be coming to 53 Degrees this December, with their unique, energetic, rock 'n' roll extravaganza of a live show.
Since the band - Justin Hawkins (vocals/guitars), Dan Hawkins (guitars/backing vocals), Frankie Poullain (bass) and Ed Graham (drums) - resumed active service at Download Festival 2011, with their original lineup, the British group have accomplished a lot. They've sold-out tours in the UK and North America; been featured in a Superbowl ad (broadcast to over 100 million viewers in the tense fourth quarter of the game); and released new album "Hot Cakes", one of the best received records in their career that even features a collaboration with Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson.
After a seven-year wait, 'Hot Cakes'-produced in conjunction with longtime collaborator Nick Brine and mixed by Pink Floyd engineer Bob Ezrin- delivers epic rock anthems and infectious pop choruses in abundance, showing a band at the height of their powers who aren't just content to rest on an arsenal of past glories. This hard rocking, catchy riffing group are a hugely popular live draw: with Christmas just around the corner when the band hit the 53 Degrees stage, The Darkness' Preston show promises to be one hell of a party.
Derbeyshire rock band LostAlone, who have played alongside the likes of Biffy Clyro and Metallica, support.
